These are the traditional 'bluegrass' mandolins developed in America at the beginning of the C20, but now made in many countries, notably Japan. They have a top and back carved from single pieces of wood. They tend to be bigger, with a longer fret run, with a higher bridge, and are therefore louder. | |||
