Hand
made bouzouki or mandola In maple and
cedarwood, this is a short scale Irish bouzouki (535mm scale) or long
scale mandola. It could be tuned in a variety of ways. I made it
originally for myself, but have played it very little, hence the sale. No label except mine
It has the original ebony fingerboard and frets.
The cedar top is now sound with 1 or 2
slight scuffs. The flat back is sound. The rosewood and bone
bridge is new. I have now fitted strap buttons at the heel. The instrument
has been finished with shellac and Tru-oil. It has been restrung
as a trad mandola in GGDDAA and is playing well with a
full, ringing, sonorous sound and
a light
action.
Other than cleaning, I have carried out the following work on this
instrument: 1) touched up some scuffs on the top; 2) levelled and cleaned
the frets; 3) made and fitted a new bridge; and 4) strung and set up. |
