3. French double-table mandolin (585) @ 175 euros

Old named French double-table flat-back

This is an old, French, from the early 20th century. It has a narrow, but long scale, semi-concert fingerboard, and is in sound condition after restoration. It has a label, inside it says...

Louis Patenotte

Lutherie Artistiques

Mattaincourt (Vosges)

This instrument is now fully restored. The double top is now sound with NO repairs. It has a single piece, stained maple back. It has the original ebony fingerboard and re-levelled ‘German silver' frets. The tuners, tail and bridge are all originals. It retains it original finish except around the repair to the back. It has been restrung with ultra-light GHS bronze wound classical strings, and is now playing well with a good, ringing sound. It has an easy action.

Other than cleaning, I have repaired as follows… 1) replaced loose inlay in the scratch-plate; 2) refitted the original fingerboard, and levelled and dressed frets; 3) repaired a small damage at the base of the back; 4) replaced missing mop edging pieces; repaired a split head, and touched up varnish around the repair; and 5) restrung and set up
