Old Portuguese flatback mandolin

This is an old, flatback mandolin, not pretty, but with several major advantages..... it has an exceptionally wide fingerboard, a long scale and a very deep body which makes it loud!! It is in fair condition with a few light scuffs to the top. It would suit a player with larger hands.... There is no makers label, but from the general form and styling, and its similarity to a bandurria, I suspect it may have been made in Spain or Portugal.

This instrument was fully restored by me in 2014 and is still sound. It has come back to me for sale from a collector who is reducing his collection.

It has been restrung with light GHS bronze wound classical strings, and is now playing well with an easy action, and a round warm sound, with very good sustain and volume.

Other than cleaning, I have completed the repairs as follows… 1) checked the frets and bridge compensation.
